APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday December 31, 2005 (MJD 53736) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: Dan Long Night: John Barentine Elena Malanushenko Viktor Malanushenko ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We does not opening by the weather coditions ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: Only one small problem during the afternoon checkout. There is an error message from the TCC each time a guider frame is taken. Modu="prt_ReadReplySet"; Text="too few replies on port LTA11:" Text="doread failed" The Guider Mac shows after every doread line "ReplyStream error" However the camera is taking frames (sop's guider monitor shows new frames after each gcam command), so I am not sure what the complaint is about. Knowing how hard it can be to get going again when things are power cycled, rebooted, etc, I am loath to mess with it if it is working, even with complaints. However a careful eye should be kept on it that it indeed continues to take frames when requested. Spectrograph focus checked but not changed. Still set for 3 to 4 C. Details in problem section. Both Imager and Spectro dewars changed. Cartridge 1 mounted on telescope. When the telescope has been at stow for an extended period (say all day), sp2 gets quite a bit colder (as much as 2 or 3 C) presumably due to the boil off of the camera dewars above the spectrograph body in this orientation. Note: When collimate is run in version v5_1_0 there is a warning message "speclog_version: Command not found." It doesn't appear to effect the calculations but is not seen in v4_10_7.
