APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday March 12, 2006 (MJD 53807) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Kaike Pan Jian Ge and the ET crew Support: Steph Snedden (by phone) French Leger Jim Gunn Connie Rockosi ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- ET setup and Science ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- ET focus fine turning continued, we did not go on the sky. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Thanks to Jim's and Connie's great efforts, the imager is almost back (u3 may need more work).A bias run was started at noon. But from some point, gang transfers for all nodes stopped. The teamster is forced to restart when I started my setup this afternoon. The red light on circulation panel in lower enclousre is flashing and beeping: If both the AC unit (it is usually turned off during bright times) and exhausting system are off, the red light on the circulation panel will be flashing and beeping. But as soon as Fans are turned on, the green light goes on, red light off, beeping stops. 02:10Z dust dropped to 1800, turned Fans on, opened louvers and craked the east door (because ET crew are working on the calibration unit, the west door keeps closing till they finish the fine turning). But thick clouds are forming just overhead, and wind speed is a little bit high. 03:20Z It still very cloudy, but good enough to open. Waiting ET crew to finish instrument focus fine turning. 05:00Z too cloudy to collect photons. 06:00Z sky becomes better again. waiting for ET setup. 07:40Z cloudy. 08:05Z ad1 died: no response (not responding: 2006-03-13 08:04:38Z). Because Jim and Connie want to keep the bias run running, at this point, they mostly conern about u3, I decided not to reboot astrometric crates, and let the bias run continue. 10:00Z watcher complaints on micro/imager with a message: Camera Serial Line: server is not responding (Last packet: 2006-03-13 09:53:58Z) but both iop and imager relay servers are running. Since then, it comes back every other 20 min or so if you clear it. 12:20 Z the cartridge bay door could NOT be fully closed: just before fully close, it automatically turned back another way: to fully open. I tried three times, I did the same thing. However, While I was writting this, French came in, and we went to the cartridge bay and tried to dupicate this. But it worked just normal. 12:35Z endNight failed to copy cloud camera images. But copyIrcamImages $MJD (53807) finished the job. At lest, returned without any error. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 38001, plate -9999 ------- 00:28 38001 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 00:32Z 6 0 1.00000 0 1114 0 121 90.0 -5.3 19 264 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 00:17Z 22 13 35 286 (WNW) 7060 - cloudy 00:49Z 22 12 24 271 (W) 7874 - cloudy 01:21Z 21 9 30 265 (W) 5415 - cloudy 01:53Z 20 7 17 273 (W) 2099 - cloudy 02:25Z 20 5 22 269 (W) 1456 - cloudy 02:57Z 20 1 16 267 (W) 984 - cloudy 03:29Z 19 0 23 292 (WNW) 1735 - partly cloudy 04:02Z 18 -5 14 276 (W) 584 - partly cloudy 04:34Z 19 -1 14 314 (NW) 367 - partly cloudy 05:10Z 19 -4 7 341 (NNW) 259 - cloudy 05:42Z 19 3 24 326 (NW) 463 - cloudy 06:15Z 19 5 20 300 (WNW) 486 - partly cloudy 06:46Z 19 5 15 304 (NW) 485 - partly cloudy 07:19Z 18 0 19 325 (NW) 335 - 07:51Z 18 -8 21 339 (NNW) 273 - 08:23Z 18 -5 18 334 (NNW) 267 - 08:55Z 18 -5 23 341 (NNW) 286 - 09:27Z 18 4 18 344 (NNW) 613 - 10:00Z 18 4 23 322 (NW) 682 - 10:33Z 18 2 10 304 (NW) 977 - 11:04Z 18 5 20 333 (NNW) 1048 - 11:36Z 18 8 16 312 (NW) 1385 - 12:09Z 19 10 24 289 (WNW) 1124 - 12:41Z 18 8 11 276 (W) 1260 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 02:10Z Fans on, louvers opened, east door cracked. 12:35Z Fans off, lovers and doors closed. 11:50Z Telescope stowed at zenith, counterweights fully down, pin in. cartridge 6, plate E8021 is mounted.
