APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday April 2, 2006 (MJD 53828) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: John Barentine Night: Steph Snedden Kaike Pan ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Fought againt clouds and the moon, we finished plates: 2435, 2237. Last 5.5 hours was lost to clouds. Problem: DIMM Meade telescope lost power during evening setup. After closing 2.5m telescope, we checked the DIMM box in lower enclosure and found the fuse was blowed. Steph will replace it tomorrow. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon --------- landru locked up just after I logged in and opened a terminal window to my account on 'host2. Had to power-cycle it to bring it back. Spectrograph focus is set for +5 deg C; numbers are in the Problems section. Night ----- Meade telescope lost power during setup, we did not want to go down lower enclosure to check because 2.5m telescope was tracking. 02:25Z cart 3, plt 2435 (chunk). stars on GTF. plate DONE with a total exposure time of 6900s. 04:55Z cart 6, plt 2237 (chunk). stars on GTF. plate DONE with a total exposure time of 4500s. 06:45Z cart 9, plt 1707 (chunk). Stars on GTF. Thick clouds blocked photons. Sky was never clear up. 11:20Z, we gave it up and called it night. 11:30Z endNight rejoiced. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6083 21:45Z 22:35Z 100 O -133.51 -120.99 88 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): yes QA Procedures Done (y/n): yes UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 38463, plate -9999 ------- 21:52 38463 0.0 bias 21:55 38464 0.0 bias ----- sequence 38465, plate 2435 ------- 22:01 38465 10.0 flat 22:04 38466 2.0 arc 22:06 38467 2.1 arc 22:09 38468 2.1 arc ----- sequence 38471, plate 2435 ------- 21.7 15.9 25.6 15.5 02:30 38471 10.0 flat 02:32 38472 2.0 arc 02:56 38473 1200.1 target 03:18 38474 1200.1 target 03:46 38475 1500.1 target 04:14 38476 1500.1 target 04:42 38477 1500.1 target 04:44 38478 10.0 flat 04:47 38479 2.0 arc ----- sequence 38480, plate 2237 ------- 18.8 14.1 25.5 15.9 05:03 38480 10.0 flat 05:05 38481 2.0 arc 05:34 38482 1500.1 target 06:02 38483 1500.1 target 06:30 38484 1500.1 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02:34Z 3 2435 37.69 0.0009 70.45 0.0045 212.40 0.0239 1.000030 05:09Z 6 2237 90.30 0.0036 66.53 0.0059 255.79 0.0129 1.000080 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02:34Z 1 2435 1.00003 -296 810 -75 38 70.4 7.9 10 265 --- 1.2 05:09Z 6 2237 1.00008 -790 534 50 90 66.6 7.6 8 185 --- 1.4 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 21:48Z 49 5 5 274 (W) 1454 - Clear 22:20Z 51 5 12 281 (W) 1542 - Clear 22:51Z 47 3 14 305 (NW) 1491 - Clear 02:47Z 46 5 7 263 (W) 1698 - partial cloudy 03:18Z 46 5 8 235 (SW) 1737 - partial cloudy 03:50Z 46 6 8 237 (WSW) 1601 - partial cloudy 04:20Z 46 4 9 186 (S) 1726 - partial cloudy 04:50Z 45 4 8 185 (S) 1569 - partial cloudy 05:21Z 45 4 5 179 (S) 1705 - partial cloudy 05:51Z 45 4 2 180 (S) 1824 - partial cloudy 06:21Z 44 4 1 161 (SSE) 1735 - partial cloudy 06:53Z 47 4 6 199 (SSW) 1566 - cloudy 07:23Z 48 4 5 262 (W) 1645 - cloudy 07:55Z 48 4 5 239 (WSW) 1480 - cloudy 08:27Z 47 5 3 257 (WSW) 1260 - cloudy 09:31Z 49 5 2 199 (SSW) 1074 - cloudy 10:04Z 48 5 2 154 (SSE) 1033 - cloudy 10:36Z 48 5 4 163 (SSE) 1009 - cloudy 11:08Z 49 5 2 192 (SSW) 985 - cloudy ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 00:45Z Fans on, louver open, door craked. 01:20Z enclosure off. 11:20Z Enclosure on, doors closed, fans and blowers off, louvers closed.
