APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Tuesday April 4, 2006 (MJD 53830) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: John Barentine Night: Steph Snedden Olena Malanushenko ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Sh-Sh-Shakeup ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Clouds whole night and we did not opened. We did standard ShakeUp tasks inside the enclosure - dithered flats, imager bias and flats. Steve's tests to check the MOPDB v1_3 are ok, passed. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon --------- monx-3 crashed sometime during the afternoon, dragging the servers down with it. With Fritz' permission, I restarted monx-3 and and servers. No other problems. Spectrograph focus is set for +9.5 deg C. Numbers are in the Problems section. Night ----- Weather condition: Clouds, dust 2500, wind 14 mph, T=12.3C, Humidity 27%. The satellite and radar show thik clouds around us. The dust and clouds caused the waiting. The Steve's tests to check the MOPDB v1_3 are passed. ET team was working in an enclosure until twilight. 01:58Z PostCalibration. 02:00Z Dithered Flats, 15 The dithered flat frame numbers are as follows: pre-flat: 38506 pre-arc: 38507 dithered flats: 38508 - 38522 post-arcs: 38523, 38524 All the frames are in /data/spectro/53830 3:30Z Mounted imager to get Shake Up flats. The Imager Bias and Flats have been done. You can see the result at the end of this log. There is a minor bug in idQA.tcl. The links on index.html that point to the gifs of the bias and flat vectors still point to sdsshost, not sdsshost2. This needs to be changed. A PR was filed. Until the changes are checked in, you can source /usrdevel/snedden/iop/etc/iop/idQA.tcl before you run checkBias or checkFlat. The clouds are so thick and forecast is hopeless, that the ET team continue their calibration procedures as preparation for their next bright run. The telescope is shut down at 11:00Z. No observations today. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6085 22:28Z 22:59Z 100 O -120.61 -113.03 43 ignore 6086 03:44Z 04:00Z 100 O -41.35 -37.36 41 bias 6087 04:03Z 04:19Z 100 O -36.75 -32.71 41 calibration ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 38495, plate -9999 ------- 22:30 38495 0.0 bias 22:34 38496 0.0 bias ----- sequence 38497, plate 2436 ------- 22:38 38497 10.0 flat 22:41 38498 2.0 arc 22:44 38499 2.1 arc 22:47 38500 2.1 arc 22:50 38501 10.0 flat 22:52 38502 2.0 arc 23:00 38503 2.1 arc 23:03 38504 2.1 arc ----- sequence 38506, plate 0 ------- 02:00 38506 10.0 flat 02:02 38507 2.0 arc 02:12 38508 10.0 flat 02:16 38509 10.0 flat 02:20 38510 10.0 flat 02:23 38511 10.0 flat 02:27 38512 10.0 flat 02:31 38513 10.0 flat 02:35 38514 10.0 flat 02:39 38515 10.0 flat 02:42 38516 10.0 flat 02:46 38517 10.0 flat 02:50 38518 10.0 flat 02:54 38519 10.0 flat 02:57 38520 10.0 flat 03:01 38521 10.0 flat 03:05 38522 10.0 flat 03:09 38523 2.0 arc 03:11 38524 2.0 arc ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 22:32Z disconnected 1.00000 0 1257 0 121 30.3 17.1 15 262 01:58Z disconnected 1.00000 0 1257 0 121 30.0 12.0 10 218 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 20:57Z 58 28 17 182 (S) 2185 - MstlyCldy 21:30Z 60 23 19 213 (SSW) 2146 - MstlyCldy 22:02Z 63 24 14 184 (S) 2022 - MstlyCldy 22:32Z 62 24 14 262 (W) 2214 - MstlyCldy 23:04Z 60 22 13 223 (SW) 2030 - MstlyCldy 23:34Z 58 25 12 213 (SSW) 2318 - MstlyCldy 00:46Z 55 23 10 238 (WSW) 2280 - 01:19Z 54 21 9 242 (WSW) 2104 - 01:51Z 53 21 11 218 (SW) 2377 - 02:23Z 54 21 11 216 (SW) 2511 - 02:55Z 53 21 6 266 (W) 2737 - 03:27Z 53 17 7 354 (NNW) 1942 - 03:59Z 53 16 7 312 (NW) 1780 - 04:32Z 52 14 7 275 (W) 1608 - 05:04Z 52 14 9 273 (W) 1747 - 05:36Z 52 14 9 266 (W) 1598 - 06:08Z 51 13 14 288 (WNW) 1632 - 06:40Z 51 13 12 269 (W) 1424 - 07:12Z 51 13 9 282 (WNW) 1408 - 07:44Z 50 13 12 268 (W) 1465 - 08:17Z 49 13 13 274 (W) 1620 - 08:49Z 47 14 13 308 (NW) 1448 - 09:21Z 48 20 14 329 (NNW) 1259 - 09:53Z 47 21 13 315 (NW) 1147 - 10:25Z 47 26 14 272 (W) 571 - 10:57Z 47 29 15 290 (WNW) 420 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- We did not opened.
