We finished 2 plates (2673, 2422) and acquired signal on 3 others. We had an altitude slip detection/velocity trip and rotator abort while setting up for our first plate (problems section). We had another rotator abort while slewing to our second plate but after clearing it we didn't have any other axis aborts (problems). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ----------- As for the last many days, Watcher is still reporting sp2's mechanicals as "Not connected." Watcher also reported, "High Rot Current" at 2006-12-26 23:10:52Z The spectro focus was checked and adusted (by about +4000) to a temp of ~+3.0 C. After clearing the axis abort and issuing another goToField we noticed that the az correction was again too large so we forced it to accept the fiducial. NGSOGTF. Used FK5 and spiral pattern. An axis init would clear it but it would abort a few seconds later. French called at that time and wanted us to try to move the telescope using the mcp which became "unavailable" as we talked to him so we rebooted it. We tried to move using mcp on the laptop but it kept aborting. We found the slip detection/velocity trip for the altitude had tripped and we reset it. After that it would move but it wasn't reading the correct altitude (mcp would claim that it was at something like 60 when it was almost at 90). Forcing the fiducials didn't work and it took us a while to figure out how to force mcp to determine the correct position (that is, French called and told us about the "p" command). After using the "p" command and then forcing the fiducials in all 3 axis the mcp was working again. 03:00Z We had another rotator abort while slewing to field but SOP thought it was still slewing so we had to wait for it before clearing the abort with an axis init and then the az fiducial error was too large to correct again so we forced it to accept the fiducials and we were back on sky.
