Completed a few more shake tasks. Captured signal on two (boaTest) plates. Were unable to do the Spectro UV response measurements; see log. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- In 6 tries (3 up, 3 down), the 90 degree alt fiducial never read. Spectro collimation was adjusted. The details are in the Problems section. Nothing else to report. Night: ------ Believe it or not, Watcher reported sp2's mechanicals as, "Not Connected." It was certainly a shock to us too. 00:20Z At sunset, we mounted the imager and, as twilight ended, tried the Highest priority Segue stripe, viz., 1356 N. Unfortunately, we had bad seeing (~2.6"). We could not jump forward in the stripe (and a higher Alt) without tracking through the zenith, so we tried different stripe. We had to wait for tcc to time out after the scanStripe. See Imaging Details for more info. 02:10Z We moved to 293 N, which increased our Alt to about 70-degrees. However, the seeing only improved by about .5" and was also declared bad by seeing run. Next, we switched to Spectro. 02:50Z Cart 03, plate 2634 (boaTest157). An Fk5 star used to find the field. Completed two (good) exposures. 04:22Z Cart 06, plate 2639 (boaTest157). An Fk5 star used to find the field. Completed two (good) exposures although the blue cameras did not make the min S/N^2. 05:39Z Cart 02, plate 2540 (segue146). An Fk5 star used to find the field. Completed two (bad) exposures. 06:52Z Cart 08, plate 2670 (segue158). Shake test: Spectro UV response measurements. We had problems when making the large mechMoveCol commands. The first move of 10K was successful. With each second move, however, we got the following error. motor a: Motor a failed to reach destination. Original motor status: {a -10186} {b 11810} {c 811} Best guess current motor status: {a -7168} {b 11810} {c 811} Try to do mechCollStatus for the current motor positions. Error: problem with motors (see previous error message) Original motor positions: {a -10186} {b 11810} {c 811} Current motor positions: {a -7168} {b 11810} {c 811} We determined that the A-motor moved in the opposite direction as directed and the B-motor did not move. We tried a couple of times with sp1 and sp2 without success. Next, we tried smaller moves (1K) but the motor were still unhappy. After the failed task above, we tried some science. Yet, bad seeing and lots of moon light did not allow any progress. In fact, we completed no good exposures after six attempts. 12:01Z We went home.
