APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Friday January 19, 2007 (MJD 54120) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Viktor Malanushenko Kaike Pan Mike Harvanek (swing) Steph Snedden (support) Jon Brinkmann (support by phone) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- snow, snow, and more snows. we nenver open. we shoveled a path to the 2.5 m enclosure. At 12:00Z, on the top of an auto force fill, we did a manual force fill to make sure the 10 L dewars of SP1 and SP2 were full, then put the filling switch to OFF position. Mike, please put the switch back to auto position when you get here tomorrow, Thanks! As 12:00Z (5:00 AM local time), there are about 10 inch accumulated snow on the ground. But it was still snowing. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- The 90 degree alt fiducial did not read in either direction. The 45 degree alt fiducial did not read going up. The triple imager dewar setup prevented azimuth motion so the az fiducials were not checked. Spectro collimation was adjusted. Details are in the Problems section. We had a power glitch at 23:51Z and the UPS in the wheeled cabinet on the floor in the corner between landru and the wall of monitors failed. We lost power to the phones and the wall of monitors and communications between the rest of the site and the 2.5m control room were terminated. Jon Brinkmann was called. He helped us get things back up and running. However, with the weather like it is, we are anticipating more power problems and so are minimizing operations. Would someone (Mark?) PLEASE repair/replace the failing UPS ASAP. Steph shoveled a path to the dorms and Mike shoveled a path to the 2.5m enclosure but at the rate it is snowing, these will soon be covered up. Night: ------ 01:00Z snow, and more snows. 11:00Z snow stoped, we shoveled a path to the 2.5m enclosure. However, as soon as we finished , it started to snow again. 11:50Z we did a auto forcd fill to the spectro, and fellowing by a manual force fill. Then we put the filling system to its OFF position. 12:00Z endNight finsihed. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6681 23:19Z 23:34Z 100 O -182.17 -178.20 41 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 42588, plate -9999 ------- 23:06 42588 0.0 bias ----- sequence 42589, plate 2637 ------- 23:36 42589 10.0 flat 23:39 42590 2.0 arc ----- sequence 42592, plate 2637 ------- 42591 bias power glitch kept this from making it to the log 00:57 42592 10.0 flat 00:59 42593 2.0 arc ----- sequence 42594, plate 2637 ------- 01:43 42594 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 21:56Z 28 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 51 - snow 22:29Z 28 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 9 - snow 23:00Z 28 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 15 - snow 23:31Z 29 30 -9999 -9999 (N) 14 - snow 00:49Z 29 28 -9999 -9999 (N) 9 - snow 01:20Z 29 29 -9999 -9999 (N) 1 - snow 01:51Z 30 31 -9999 -9999 (N) 1149 - 02:24Z 31 31 -9999 -9999 (N) 2653 - 02:55Z 29 29 -9999 -9999 (N) 85 - 03:28Z 29 30 -9999 -9999 (N) 103 - 04:00Z 29 29 -9999 -9999 (N) 63 - 04:32Z 29 29 -9999 -9999 (N) 89 - 05:04Z 30 30 -9999 -9999 (N) 3640 - 05:36Z 28 28 -9999 -9999 (N) 7 - 06:08Z 27 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 7 - 06:40Z 28 28 -9999 -9999 (N) 3 - 07:13Z 29 28 -9999 -9999 (N) 1703 - 07:45Z 28 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 71 - 08:17Z 28 28 -9999 -9999 (N) 594 - 08:49Z 27 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 261 - 09:19Z 27 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 476 - 09:49Z 27 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 142 - 10:19Z 26 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 903 - 10:49Z 26 26 -9999 -9999 (N) 161 - 11:20Z 25 25 -9999 -9999 (N) 57 - 11:50Z 25 25 -9999 -9999 (N) 77 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- snow, snow, and more snows. we nenver open. 12:10Z telescope stowed at 121, 30. spectro dewar at OFF postion after a manual force fill. 212.6 lb, 18.4 psi. image dewar: 196 lb, 21.7 psi. ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v4_29_0 Watcher: v2_35_0 MCP: v6_3_2 TPM: tpm_v3_5_0 AstroDa: v15_13 TCC: TCC 2.7.2.1 August 6 2004 sdssProcedures: v2_22 SoS: v5_1_8 hoggPT: v1_6_9 plate-mapper: v4_3_1 ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A 24.6780 24.6730 Axial B 26.2700 26.2680 Axial C 27.9370 27.9320 Trans D 13.5880 13.5820 Lateral E 9.9695 9.9695 Lateral F 11.5443 11.5443 GALILS Commanded: 4600. -2000. 2650. -9300. -9800. -9800.
