APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday January 27, 2007 (MJD 54128) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Steph Snedden Audrey Simmons Jian Ge (UF) Justin Crepp (UF) Scott Fleming (UF) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- ET Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- In spite of a brief bout with clouds and then humidity, we made 9 ET pointings, 8 of which had decent signal. One was in thick cloud. In addition to vs+ going out of spec on CCD 55, we had a similar error for vt+ on CCD 15 when the ambient air temperature was about -3.5C The MCP went down during the afternoon and was rebooted. (see problems section). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Imager cart pin sensor went into the "dim LED" state between one test slew and another. Jiggling the wire didn't help this time. Jiggling the pin did. Night: ------ Note: We used two guider flats for every goto field. 01:46Z Cartridge 1, ET plate 8033 Too cloudy to find guide stars. One fk5 star was found, but no exposures were taken. 02:38Z Cartridge 2, ET plate 8018 Guide stars in field were found, but were really faint. 50 minute exposure. Mostly cloudy. The ET crew claims we got enough signal to be useful. 03:53Z Cartridge 6, ET plate 8016 Periodic breaks in clouds. 50 minute exposure. 05:04Z Cartridge 9, ET plate 8017 Clouds mostly cleared. One 50 minute exposure 06:24Z - Closed for high humidity 07:19Z - Reopened 07:29Z - Cartridge 3, ET plate 8024 GSOGTF One 50 minute exposure. Note that it took four tries before the az brake would clear. 08:32Z - Cartridge 2, ET Plate 8018 Found the field after offsets were cleared. One 50 minute exposure. 09:42Z - Cartridge 5, ET plate 8025 GSOGTF One 50 minute exposure. 10:52Z - Cartridge 8, ET plate 8021 GSOGTF One 50 minute exposure 11:58Z - Cartridge 7, ET plate 8022 GSOGTF One 50 minute exposure. One 20 minute exposure. Justin then took calibrations while I closed and ran endNight. endNight rejoiced. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n):n QA Procedures Done (y/n):n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 42634, plate 2425 ------- 21:59 42634 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 04:03Z 6 8016 32.49 0.0004 52.41 0.0007 206.82 -0.0107 1.000150 04:07Z 6 8016 30.84 0.0004 52.90 0.0007 205.51 -0.0107 1.000150 05:06Z 9 8017 28.42 0.0004 59.52 0.0007 203.67 -0.0107 1.000050 07:32Z 3 8024 52.54 0.0020 68.14 0.0009 224.60 0.0073 1.000100 08:38Z 2 8018 243.73 -0.0024 51.24 0.0002 93.71 -0.0054 1.000050 11:04Z 8 8021 97.93 -0.0001 45.14 0.0010 250.10 -0.0129 1.000000 12:00Z 7 8022 111.92 -0.0003 52.54 0.0012 -95.98 -0.0174 1.000000 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 04:03Z 6 8016 1.00015 -1481 248 300 33 52.4 -2.7 -9999 -9999 - 2.3 04:07Z 6 8016 1.00015 -1481 171 225 31 52.9 -2.8 -9999 -9999 - 1.3 05:06Z 9 8017 1.00005 -494 970 225 28 59.5 -3.2 -9999 -9999 - 1.8 07:32Z 3 8024 1.00010 -988 542 225 52 68.2 -3.1 -9999 -9999 - 1.6 08:38Z 2 8018 1.00005 -494 968 200 244 51.2 -3.4 -9999 -9999 - 1.4 11:04Z 8 8021 1.00000 0 1448 250 98 45.1 -3.9 -9999 -9999 - 1.8 12:00Z 7 8022 1.00000 0 1423 250 112 52.5 -3.8 -9999 -9999 - 1.5 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 20:40Z 31 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 325 - Cloudy 21:12Z 31 16 -9999 -9999 (N) 266 - " 21:44Z 31 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 269 - " 22:16Z 32 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 279 - " 22:48Z 31 24 -9999 -9999 (N) 290 - " 23:20Z 30 17 -9999 -9999 (N) 291 - " 23:53Z 29 11 -9999 -9999 (N) 325 - " 00:25Z 28 5 -9999 -9999 (N) 305 - " 00:57Z 28 5 -9999 -9999 (N) 327 - " 01:29Z 27 6 -9999 -9999 (N) 358 - " 02:04Z 27 8 -9999 -9999 (N) 311 - " 02:35Z 27 7 -9999 -9999 (N) 329 - " 03:06Z 27 16 -9999 -9999 (N) 425 - partly cloudy 03:38Z 27 17 -9999 -9999 (N) 433 - " 04:08Z 27 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 495 - " 04:39Z 26 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 455 - " 05:09Z 26 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 523 - " 06:05Z 26 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 406 - " 06:36Z 26 17 -9999 -9999 (N) 427 - " 07:06Z 27 15 -9999 -9999 (N) 400 - mostly clear 07:36Z 26 17 -9999 -9999 (N) 376 - " 08:07Z 26 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 348 - " 08:38Z 25 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 351 - " 09:08Z 25 17 -9999 -9999 (N) 330 - " 10:08Z 25 16 -9999 -9999 (N) 371 - " 10:39Z 25 15 -9999 -9999 (N) 392 - " 11:09Z 25 15 -9999 -9999 (N) 398 - " 11:39Z 25 14 -9999 -9999 (N) 355 - clear 12:11Z 25 11 -9999 -9999 (N) 334 - " 12:41Z 25 13 -9999 -9999 (N) 383 - " 13:11Z 26 14 -9999 -9999 (N) 383 - " 13:41Z 25 15 -9999 -9999 (N) 393 - " ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 00:15z Started ventilation 00:30z Opened enclosure 06:24Z Closed enclosure.
