Photometric, but seeing varied drastically. So, sadly we werent able to image. However, we gained signal on: Cart 2, plate 2848 Cart 1, plate 2824 (finished) Cart 5, plate 2878 Cart 7, plate 2847 (finished) Cart 6, plate 1874 (finished) Cart 8, plate 2869 Note: The only plates available to cover the 05:00-07:00Z time period are the orion, photoz, and baotest plates. We asked for a marvels plate to be plugged even though it doesnt cover this gap of time. If someone wants one of these special plates instead, and can inform the observers how to observe it, please let the pluggers know. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: --------- All equipment are checked. We need to reboot the crates to get the responce from id1 and to run iop (see problems). After that everything work properly. Spectro collimation set for 0C. Ventilation is started at 23:15Z. Cart 2 is mounted. Note: We left the interlock switch to the cartridge manipulator arm in the off position so that it wont cause us any problems tonight. Night: ------ Note: We heard a very strange noise coming from the spectrograph 2 secondary dewer after it started to fill, but the sound went away after a minute or so. 00:05Z - Opened enclosure to clear, photometric skies. Cartridge 2 mounted, segue169 plate 2848. 00:45Z - We had to force fiducials for altitude and azimuth a couple of different times, but we were able to find the field using an fk5 star. 01:07Z - Precals. 01:14Z - 20 min exposure. Seeing variable, from 2-3" (DIMM was getting similar readings). Efficiency was below 30%, altitude was low (38 degrees), plate expired soon. Signal obtained: 1.4 in b2. 01:37Z - Postcals. This plate is not done. Still needs ~17 in b2 (currently b1 is at 1.0). 01:45Z - Mounted cart 1, seguefaint167 plate 2824. GSFOGTF. 01:53Z - Precals. 01:59Z - 20 min exposure. Seeing 1.3" 02:22Z - 25 min exposure. Seeing 1.0" 02:57Z - 25 min exposure. 03:23Z - Postcals. This plate is declared DONE. 03:33Z - Mounted cart 5, chunk171 plate 2878. No guide stars, used fk5. 03:40Z - Precals. 03:47Z - 20 min exposure. Seeing 1.8" 04:10Z - 25 min exposure. 04:38Z - 20 min exposure. 05:00Z - Postcals. This plate is not done. Note: We were pointing pretty close to the moon. We didnt get much signal (less than 2). We took postcals just in case it helped the SOS reductions. The exposures arent good enough to be declared in the plate database, but they can be added as extra signal once the plate is finished. 05:16Z - Mounted cart 7, marvels168 plate 2847. No guide stars, used fk5. 05:22Z - Precals. 05:32Z - Started the run of 10x10 second exposures. 06:03Z - Mid-cals. 06:11Z - Started the run of 5x20 second exposures. 06:28Z - Postcals. We thought about switching to imaging, but decided against it. We calculated with calcStripeParams that we would be at an altitude of 35-39 degrees for the 1458 stripe. Being this low, looking through an airmass of ~1.7, and with the seeing being so scattered from the rather high wind, it isnt worth it switching.
