The portable dust counter was >38,000 inside the wind baffle. With the relative humidity above 50% that alone put us over our dust limit in less than an hour so we need the mirror inspected for possible cleaning. Both dewars are also low. We took MSP cals. but had problems with QE on r4 so only the first 7 exposures were done. The next time MSP data is gathered the observer needs to start with the 8th exposure in /usrdevel/observer/msp/qe_r.list. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- We could not get neon lamp number-4 to work during the checkout. We had a dust spike that was >80K. A test of the dust inside the 2.5-meter enclosure showed a level of >38K although the building was pressurized. So, we forced-filled the spectro dewars with about 20lbs of LN2 and placed the scope at six-degrees Alt to slow the dust accumulation on the primary. The mirrors should be checked on Thursday.
