We had humidity ranging from 50% to 70% which forced us to close when the "dust-hours" reached 20,000. Please check/clean the mirror. It almost rained. The Guadalupes appeared to get some moisture (and lightning). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ----------- All systems were checked, and they are working properly. The spectro focus was set for 10 C. Dust ws about 5 K during evening. No evening ventilation started. Night: ------ We opened at sunset with clouds in the east. We then closed about ten minutes later as new radar returns and lightning strikes appeared on the weather sites. This was followed by higher humidity and dust counts and poor seeing and transparency. We had a choice of opening under these conditions for three to four hours before we reached the dust limit or waiting to open pending lower dust and higher priority targets. We chose to wait to see if the weather would improve. It did. The DIMM control software had to be restarted. It applied a huge (wrong) offset when centering up Polaris. After restarting, the DIMM software and hardware behaved. 04:07Z - Cartridge 6, plate 2965 - SEGUE faint ---------------------------------------------- GSOGTF Obtained useful signal in three exposures totaling 4200s. One more good exposure will finish the plate, but we couldn't get that exposure because... 09:32Z - Closed. We reached the dust limit of 20,000 "dust-hours" in higher humidity.
