We had high dust (up to 36K and lower to 8K my morning) and did not open. Spectro biases and darks are done. Dithered flats are done. After that we mounted EngCam to be ready to open in case of the dropping of dust. EndCam did not work, there is a red 'error' light on "Parallan FX50". We did not find the spare. Beside the hight dust we got the clouds by the morning and could not observe at all. Engineering camera is mounted. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Adjusted fiber and spectra positions on the CCDs to complete spectro monthly checkout (see problem section for details). Note: The neon lamps still have some trouble coming on. After I took my first postcal, I went down to the telescope to check and see if the neon lamps had come on right away, but unfortunatly they did not. Only the top two came on. However, I was able to get all of them to come on a few minutes later when I turned on the inside enclosure lights. I left all of the lamps on and came back up to the control room, completed spectro monthly checkout, went back down to the enclosure after I finished, and I saw that the same two lamps as before were on, but the bottom two were off (this might have effected the accuracy of the wavelength positions on the CCDs, as well as the spectral collimation?). I remember turning the neon lamps off for a few minutes during my checkout (~10 minutes) and then turning them back on again, so maybe this triggered only a few of them to come back on? Blue cameras gold rings do not need to be adjusted (see problem section). Homed and relaxed the primary and secondary mirrors. Encountered a problem with the connection during the homing of the secondary mirror. The M2 galel was reset because $ HOST TCC_SEC failed. Another related problem: mirror numbers could not be gathered with 'm4l' because of a TCC timeout (and a missing AxisStatPVT:rot command). Jon and Steph solved this problem by reissuing 'set inst=spectro' and another track command. Confirmed that the PT FF Bulb had been replaced. No problems during telescope checkout. Spectro collimation set for ~6.5C tonight (see problem section). Night: ------ The dust was more than 26000 in the last evening.
