Finished two SEGUE faint plates (2829 and 2262) and got good signal on two other SEGUE faints. Pollen counts appeared low.Total "dust-hours" tonight was a little over 10,000. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Initially was unable to restart the servers due to a failure in the startup of the murmur. Jon rebooted sdsshost2 and then was able to start up the servers. Spectro collimation set for ~12C tonight. Mounted cart 8, plate 2926. 01:20Z - Started ventilating with doors and louvers open, fans on. The wind died down and the dust was at ~3000 (with no pollen spotted). Night: ------ Pollen counts appear to be much lower than previous nights, so we opened at sunset. 03:01Z - Cartridge 8, plate 2926 - SEGUE faint ---------------------------------------------- Starting with cleared offsets, found an FK5 in bright twilight with ADR offset of -10,10. Seeing was variable. Acquired (S/N)^2 = 18.9 in 4500s total. Not yet done. 05:15Z - Cartridge 4, plate 2829 - SEGUE faint ---------------------------------------------- Needed an FK5 to find the field. Seeing improved to 1.1" FWHM. Dust and winds are down. (S/N)^2 = 23.8 in 4300s. Added to previous value of 27.3, this plate is done. 07:07Z - Cartridge 7, plate 2262 - SEGUE faint ---------------------------------------------- GSOGTF Seeing was variable; at times very good. Obtained (S/N)^2 = 51.0 in five exposures totaling 6700s. The plate is done. 09:43Z - Cartridge 2, plate 2546 - SEGUE faint ---------------------------------------------- Needed an FK5 to find the field. The guide stars on this plate are all pretty faint except for guide fiber 10's star. The efficiency meter reads > 100 percent, so there are problems with the maggies for this plate's guide stars. Incorrect E(B-V) used? Spectro focus was changed by -2000 for both sp1 and sp2. Finished one 1700s exposure before twilight and got (S/N)^2 =9.3.
