We managed to get a few exposures on a couple of plates, but overall we lost to poor observing conditions. Many of the exposures had some cameras reporting (S/N)^2 values less than 2.0 according to SoS, but we did not declare them as bad. We had relatively high dust counts at the beginning of the night (we estimate an integrated count of ~10k dust-hours when dust was in the red zone for the first 2 hours), so it might be worth checking the mirror. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ========== All systems are checked and they work properly. Spectro collimation is adjusted for 3.5C. Ventilation delayed as there are high dust 4.5K. Cart 4 is mounted. Night: ====== 00:35Z - Enclosure off. We still had dust counts >4k, but skies were clear, humidity was less than 40%, and wind gusts dropped below closure limits. We wanted to get a few exposures on cartridge 4, 3128, which is expiring. Cart. 4, 3128, segue aug08d *************************** 00:54Z - gotoField. We did not find guide stars, but also saw that the rotator break was engaged, so we initialized the axes and slewed to the field again, but had another rotator abort. I visually checked the telescope and the velocity trip indicators and found no problems. For whatever reason, when we tried slewing again, everything worked normally.
