Seeing was good dueing the whole night. Finished plates: 3126, 3151 Added signals on plate 3134, 2640, 3149 Imaging 75 S from lambda -176 to -153 (including ramps) under photometric sky (we think, the cloud camera needs to be fixed). Problems: The cloud camera can not give us reliable information on whether the sky is photometric or not. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: --------- Craig worked on a TCC UDP problem today (one that's been with us for a long time), that required using a different version of the TCC on the spare TCC computer. Fritz switched us back to the old TCC when afternoon checkout started. Back in the control room, a bias drift completed normally, then all the nodes on crate 1 became unavailable. The crate was rebooted. At about the same time, Steph's SOP session hung, and we traced the problem to the watcher relay server. Then, Audrey tried to do an initNight from her IOP session after crate 1 was rebooted, preparatory to taking another bias. The IOP session reported that the pool disk was full. I had previously done an initNight -poolInit, so it should have been empty. A poolDir from Audrey's IOP said data from November was on the disk. Kaike started a new IOP session, did a poolDir, and it showed the disk was empty. Bizarre. Each problem caused cumulatively enough of a delay that we were late opening. Craig sent an email saying the UDP problem was found during today's tests, so that is good. Spectro focus was left unchanged. No data removed from disk. Night: ----- 00:42Z - Cartridge 3, plate 3134 - SEGUE Needed an FK5 plus an offset to find the field. We obtained 5 exposures on this plate, and one more exposure the plate wll be done. 03:50Z cart 1, plate 3126 (Segue). SOGTF. We got two exposures on this plate. With signals obtained before, the plate was done. So we continue with spetro. Cart 5, plate (baotest). We obtained two exposures on this plate. The S/N^2 on r 1 and r 2 are 11.5 and 8.1. Because of its problem, the cloud camera does not give us reliable information on whether the sky is photometric. We did not see clouds on satellite images, we decided to swtich to imaging. 06:15Z switch to imaging. 06:33Z 75 S, run 7845. 06:36Z started ramp at lambda -176, frame 12 06:43Z started science at lambda -174, frame 24. Focus and skippy were good from frame 12. seeing was good at 1.2". 08:00Z ended science at lambda -155 frame 151. 08:08Z ended ramp at lambda -153, frame 164. Seeing was good, at 1.2", through the imaging time. 08:10Z on-telescope bias. Run 7846. 08:30Z There is no available image strip. Switch back to spectro. 08:40Z cart 4, plate 3149 (SEGUE). FK5 used.Two 25 min exposures obtained. The plate is not done yet. 09:50Z cart 9, plate 3151 (SEGUE). SOGTF. 12:20Z The plate was done. Since there was 5 min before twilight we decided to have another exposures to give the plate extra signals.
