Problem: Rotator can not move. MCP reads that the rotator is at 3 degree but its physical position is at 0 degree. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Collimation checked and adjusted at +13C for both sp1,sp2 01:15Z started ventilation Night: ------ Clouds delayed open. 06:40Z enclousure off. 07:01Z cart 5, plate 3478 (SEGUE2). We had rotator abort right away when goto field was issued. Az and Alt axis moved to their destinations but rotator never moved. We tried two times and rotator behaved the same. Then I check slips and amplifier, there was no slips, and amplifiers looked okay (all LED lighted up normally). But we did powered cycles amplifiers, and reset slips. All these did not help as we expected. When rotator aborted, we noticed that a yellow box showed on MCP GUI and saying MCP unavaible for 2 second, and went away. We tried things we can think of, included rebooted MCP, we got Craig here and Dan Long (soory, Dan to wake you up) on the phone. We found that when an command to move rotator was issued, error on rotator position was built up and its actaul position nenver moved, so when the error accumulated to some big number, the axis aborted. From TPM, we found that when attempt to move the rotator was excised, voltage of its amplifier did change, but its driving current never change. Another thing we noticed is that, after the rotator abortion, an "axis init" from tcc will clean up axes. But the rotator axis could not be cleaned up from MCP. 09:00Z Because there were no very clear clue what went wrong with the rotator, and there are only 80 minutes left, clouds were moving in, we decided to level it to Dan and its crew tomorrow. 09:20Z Clouds in, enclusure on. 09:50Z endNight finished.
