Blowing snow was a problem during first half. It appears that Jon Craig and Russell beat the Hartmann shutter problem into submission. The new specMech installed today gave expected Hartmann results (within reasonable uncertainties) on a repeat of the cartridge 17 coma test. Plus, a visual inspection showed the shutters were behaving as expected when commanded to close and open both; close and open left and right shutters. We had several instances when commanded collimator moves failed to complete during the coma test. Large moves are done as sequences of smaller moves of 1000 units. Most of our errors were after a successful 1000 unit move, and before the next move started, and all three actuators would then be off by the same amount. We had a repeat of the netburner problem (ticket 475), where only the sp2 frames read out for exposures 111258, 111259. Many biases were later taken for Craig. The biases tickled the same problem for 111308, 111309 (only sp1 read out). Also, biases 111505 and 111506 show red SoS values and may indicate the recurrence of the dropped pixel problem. Sorry, Connie. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ========== Earlier today, Dan L. verified there was a problem with the Hartmann shutters changing state after a Hartmann move was commanded. We came in to find Craig and Jon trying to get a new version of specMech to work. There were problems getting Russell's latest version to work because of an "array index out of bounds" error. Jon tracked it down, and burned new eproms. We then visually confirmed that the Hartmann shutters were behaving as expected with the telescope at 30 deg. alt. Night: ====== 01:11Z - Blowing snow and high humidity kept us closed. We took a series of Hartmanns to test the Hartmann shutters and set the focus on cartridge 17. Note that sp1 was originally in focus. When we drove it out of focus, collimate reported the correct amount to move it back. 03:16Z - No b1, r1 frames were written to disk for images 111258, 111259.
