Decent seeing for most of the night. We imaged 82 N from lambda +110.5 to -153.5 and from -157.6 to -122.9 (including ramps) in mostly good seeing conditions. A rotator abort was the (eventual) reason that this was split into 2 runs. There were 3 rotator aborts while imaging 82 N. Finished 1 plate (2571); good data on another plate (2438). Set the spectrograph focus for 1-2C. It was suggested that I do a "grabInst" in MOP because of the new pt server and problems that have occurred overnight. After the "grabInst" command MOP returned "0". Night: ------ We mounted the imager shortly before sunset and did an on-telescope bias (run 6561, 00:08Z) in a darkened enclosure. 00:30Z Removed the enclosure. 00:57Z Run 6562: 82 N. Had a nu err of ~ 8". Experimented with clearing the offsets (it was still twilight so we had time) but this didn't seem to have much effect. Ignore this run. 01:15Z Run 6563: 82 N. THe rotator aborted almost immediately after starting this run. Since we had time, we ended this drift and started again. 01:21Z Run 6564: 82 N, start lambda +110.5. Everything good (enough) from the beginning. Note that the nu error is over 8" (-8.6") from the start. Twilight officially ends at frame 20, lambda +112.5. Ramp begins at frame 23, lambda +113.0. Science begins at frame 36, lambda +115.0. The seeing is 1.4 - 1.8"; not great but definitely much better than last night. 02:06Z The rotator aborts. Dan initializes only the rotator axis. Although this cleared the abort, it did not resume tracking for the rotator. 07:43Z Ended run 6564 due to the fact that the rotator abort finally caused the rotator offset (thetaf) to reach the limit at which pointing needs to be corrected. The run ended at frame 646, lambda -153.5. Most of this run had good/acceptable seeing and all of this run should be usable. 07:48Z Run 6565: 82 N, start lambda -157.6. Everything good (enough) from the beginning. Note that the nu error is over 8" (-10.2") from the start. 07:50-56Z The rotator aborted at some point in this time frame. 10:08Z Ended run 6565 at frame 240, lambda -122.9 (end of strip). Seeing for this run was in the 1.5" - 2" range and all of this run should be usable. 10:20Z Plate 2571 (cartridge 1), survey. After re-applying the pre-imaging altitude offset, guide stars were found. When combined with data from the previous night (54054) this plate was finished in 2 exposures (2500 sec total). 11:27Z Plate 2438 (cartridge 4), survey. Guide stars on the gotoField. We obtained 2 exposures (2400 sec total) before it got too bright.
