APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Friday February 23, 2007 (MJD 54155) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: Long Night: Viktor Malanushenko Elena Malanushenko ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We had strong wind, high humidity and dust, and clouds. Our telescope has not been opened this night. We requested to unmount 4 SDSS cartridges to make them availble for following ET run. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Afternoon check went smoothly. Spectrograph focus checked and adjusted. Set for about 2 C (using the spectro body temperatures). 23:50Z Too windy and dusty to ventilate. Night: ------ Do did not open at sunset because of high wind (up to 45 mph), hard nearby radar return, and dust up to 8000 counts. T=-1C, humidity 50%, diff 9.5 C. Some clouds. For the same time interval we compared max wind speed using anemometer and tpm. TPM values are less then our direct mesurments on 12-15 mph. Current TPM wind mesurments are 30-40 mph. During the night we did not get any improvment of weather condition. By the end of night wind gustings are up to 40 mph using TPM and possible higher in reality. By the end of night temperature is dropped to -11C, humidity is 80-95% and diff is between 2 and 3 C. We did not open because of weather condition. 11:40 endNight is completed. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6735 21:54Z 22:04Z 100 O -168.82 -166.33 31 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): yes QA Procedures Done (y/n): yes UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 43159, plate -9999 ------- 20:56 43159 0.0 bias ----- sequence 43160, plate 2679 ------- 21:15 43160 10.0 flat 21:17 43161 2.0 arc 21:20 43162 3.0 arc 21:22 43163 3.0 arc 22:54 43164 3.0 arc 22:56 43165 3.0 arc 23:39 43166 3.0 arc 23:41 43167 2.0 arc ----- sequence 43168, plate -9999 ------- 00:22 43168 0.0 bias ----- sequence 43169, plate 2679 ------- 00:30 43169 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind* Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky *From "Cosmic" RAWS 20:28Z 43 19 21/33 248 (WSW) 684 - Mostly Clear 20:58Z 41 14 21/33 248 (WSW) 2361 - Mostly Clear 21:29Z 42 13 23/41 225 (SW) 3109 - Clear 22:00Z 43 12 23/41 225 (SW) 6302 - Partly Cloudy 22:32Z 42 8 26/42 248 (WSW) 8461 - Partly Cloudy 23:05Z 40 9 26/42 248 (WSW) 3921 - Partly Cloudy 23:35Z 40 8 19/44 248 (WSW) 4583 - Partly Cloudy 00:07Z 38 6 19/44 248 (WSW) 4340 - Partly Cloudy 00:37Z 36 5 24/37 248 (WSW) 4050 - Partly Cloudy 01:04Z 33 10 12/35 -9999 (N) 2881 - Cloudy 01:36Z 31 11 12/35 -9999 (N) 4537 - 02:08Z 31 13 14/29 -9999 (N) 2425 - 02:41Z 30 13 14 25 (NNE) 1283 - 03:13Z 28 15 3 22 (NNE) 1224 - 03:46Z 25 21 9 254 (WSW) 7797 - 04:18Z 24 23 11 244 (WSW) 4684 - 04:50Z 23 21 15 246 (WSW) 2410 - 05:22Z 22 22 15 246 (WSW) 6489 - 05:54Z 19 17 -9999 -9999 (N) 976 - 06:27Z 19 8 11 291 (WNW) 3723 - 06:59Z 18 3 12 272 (W) 1921 - 07:31Z 17 6 13 244 (WSW) 1761 - 08:03Z 16 7 11 248 (WSW) 1948 - 08:35Z 15 9 14 283 (WNW) 1949 - 09:07Z 15 9 13 253 (WSW) 1167 - 09:40Z 14 9 14 265 (W) 1313 - 10:12Z 13 8 17 271 (W) 794 - 10:44Z 13 8 12 270 (W) 2055 - 11:16Z 12 7 9 239 (WSW) 1326 - 11:48Z 11 7 14 262 (W) 1510 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- We did not open.
