A fe `stopMon' and `startMon' commands seemed to fix the problem. See log. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- I discovered no problems during the afternoon checkout. The spectro focus was checked and adjusted with +2000; it's set for about 0.0 degrees C. The pre-adjustment spectro numbers via collimate are posted in the Problems Section. I mounted cart 09 at the observer's request. We only had 5 guide stars after we went back to the field. The sky was clear and the IR cam reported photometric conditions. The DIMM was reporting seeing measurements of ~2" at the time. Last night, the most guide stars we had for this plate was 8 (only for a brief moment), but most of the time we only had as many as 7. It seems that this plate has some faint guide stars in some of the fibers because you can sometimes kind of make out a star in some of the fibers that report no guide stars. Also, the efficiency meter doesn't make any sense with the weather conditions. We had clear skies overhead and the efficiency meter was reading 13%. We experienced this last night as well. 02:10Z - Pre-Calibs. 02:29Z - end twilight. 02:21Z - Science 1500s. Guide fibers 2, 4, 5, and 7 were disabled since we couldn't make out much more than a small faint blob in some of these fibers, and in others there was nothing. We were using 20s guider exposures. 02:48Z - Science 1500s. Seeing is about 2.5" - 3.0" on average. SoS recommended post-calibs, but it was too late, we were already switching to the next plate. The exposures were declared `bad' since the seeing was very poor and the signal on the exposures was relatively low. The wind speed has been picking up.
