Then it cleared out and stayed photometric allmost the rest of the night. We finished: plate 1633 (cart 4) plate 1596 (cart 6) plate 1428 (cart 8) Also we observed stip 16 N from lambda -39.5 (beginning of the ramp) up to lambda -8.5 (the end of the ramp). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon checkout: -------------------- There are two sets of mirror numbers in this log. The first set was done at 121,30 and the second was done at 121,60. The 121,60 set was done as a test to see if M2's Trans D number would change. The number did in deed change, but I am not sure is it's correct. The spectro focus was checked and adjusted. I also adjusted Wavemin on Sp1. The numbers are in the problems section. Night: -------------------- Opening delayed (clouds near by), but we opened 30 minutes before end of twilight. 01:00Z cart 3 plt 1468 mounted. Stars on slew, but rotator had to work very hard to move all of them to the fiber centers centers (alt 87.3). Then thick clouds have showed up and guide stars have disapeared. NO signal on this plate collected. Waiting... 04:25Z Clouds finaly have gone (mostly). We mounted cart 4 plt 1633. No stars on go to field, but Pete guessed where to offset and we found them very quickly. We got five 20 minutes exposures, so we did postaclib after the last one. Plate done. 06:54Z Cart 6 plt 1596 mounted. Stars found after clearing the offsets. Done with 3 exposures. Seeing is still varying btween 1.5" and 2" , so we sticked with spectroscopy. 07:57Z Cart 8 plt 1428 mounted. Stars on slew. Done with 3 exposures. 09:10Z Seeing is low and stable enough to try imaging. 09:31Z Imager on the telescope. We went for strip: 16 N run 4343 - we cleared offsets on flight, but ... together with also bore site offsets. So we ended the drift, called riun 4343 ignore and started drift again. run 4344, skippy says we are in position and in spec. We are in focus and seeing is good too. Science: starts at frame 42 (beginning of the ramp), labda=-39.5 We see in focus loop plot, that secondary has a hard time to stay in focus today e.i. The blue line at the plot is often overplotting the green (secondary) and it doesn't like to stay in the middle between blue and green. Since frame 249, lambda= -8.5 - bad seeing. The seeing hasn't improved for 20 minutes after that and the sky became nonphotometric (12:30Z).
