Finally opened at 0640Z. Closed again around 0915Z for high humidity. More clouds after that. Finished 1 plate (1885) and we think plate 1660 is also done but we are waiting for confirmation from Brian Yanny. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Telescope ok., MIGs ok. (note - our "nominal" values are old), spectrographs in focus (no change made), DAs ok. No problems to report. Night: ------ Threatening clouds and rain at sunset. The clouds stuck around for the first part of the night but we opened at 0640Z. Plate 1885 (cartridge 6): Guide stars on the gotoField. When combined with data from last night (53229), this plate was finished in one 1800 sec exposure. Plate 1660 (cartridge 8): Guide stars on the gotoField. When combined with data from 53228, we suspect that this plate was finished in one 900 sec exposure but we will wait for confirmation from Brian Yanny. Note that the S/N is suspiciously deficient in r1 for all data (both 53228's and tonight's). SoS claimed tonight's data had bad sky residuals in r1 but visual inspection using apoplotsky showed nothing obvious. Plate 1144 (cartridge 9): Guide stars on the gotoField. The wind swung around and came from the east as we began this plate. This caused the seeing to deteriorate and brought moisture from the thunderstorms which made the humidity rise. We attempted a 1200 sec exposure but it was no good. We closed for humidity at 0915Z. Also note that the arc (27861) for this plate had nlamps for r2 in the red. The humidity dropped back down to an acceptable value after about half an hour but by this time clouds had moved in.
