APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday March 18, 2006 (MJD 53813) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: John Barentine Steph Snedden Dan Long Night: Viktor Malanushenko, Elena Malanushenko. Jurek Krzesinski visitior: Shannon Watters, Craig Loomis. ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Shakedown ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Dust then clouds most of the night but at the morning when it cleared out we took and implemented new pointing model. We left engcamera on the telescope, so we can remove it at evening. imager dewar was replaced at the morning, so it will last till Sunday. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon --------- No issues. Spectro focus numbers are in the Problems section. We did the kernel swtich per Kurt's instructions after finishing all DA-related checkout tasks. Night ----- Mirrors were homed and relaxed, axis positions are fine. Eng. camera mounted. 07:15Z We opened, but clouds arrived as we did. Waiting. 09:30Z Cleared enough to check eng cam center position. Then we took pointing model. The new pointing model (which was the same quality as the old one) was implemented and checked with a shorter pointing afterwards. endNight finished ok. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6055 22:00Z 22:17Z 100 O -144.35 -140.28 41 ignore 6056 00:58Z 01:44Z 100 O -99.73 -88.37 65 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 38049, plate -9999 ------- 21:52 38049 0.0 bias ----- sequence 38050, plate 2427 ------- 22:38 38050 10.0 flat 22:40 38051 2.0 arc 22:45 38052 2.1 arc 22:47 38053 2.1 arc 23:09 38054 2.1 arc 23:11 38055 2.1 arc ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 22:22Z disconnected 1.00000 0 1257 0 121 30.2 4.3 34 242 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 20:22Z 41 14 28 205 (SSW) 725 - 20:54Z 41 17 24 224 (SW) 903 - 21:26Z 40 18 25 214 (SW) 2883 - 21:58Z 39 17 26 205 (SSW) 11347 - 22:30Z 39 16 37 223 (SW) 4071 - 23:01Z 40 18 29 202 (SSW) 4041 - 23:31Z 40 18 25 209 (SSW) 6737 - 01:46Z 38 20 26 207 (SSW) 13926 - 02:18Z 38 20 28 202 (SSW) 7519 - 02:50Z 38 21 26 202 (SSW) 19014 - 03:22Z 38 23 33 217 (SW) 19783 - 03:55Z 37 21 26 204 (SSW) 14547 - 04:27Z 37 20 22 215 (SW) 7482 - 04:59Z 36 19 20 221 (SW) 7133 - 05:31Z 34 17 24 215 (SW) 3198 - 06:03Z 35 15 23 221 (SW) 1799 - 06:36Z 34 15 22 216 (SW) 1387 - 07:09Z 32 17 16 231 (SW) 1718 - 07:40Z 32 16 13 239 (WSW) 1401 - 08:13Z 32 15 21 234 (SW) 1150 - 08:44Z 31 16 19 212 (SSW) 1323 - 09:16Z 31 14 22 213 (SSW) 1060 - 09:48Z 30 15 19 218 (SW) 1136 - 10:22Z 30 15 19 220 (SW) 1100 - 10:53Z 29 15 20 232 (SW) 1160 - 11:25Z 29 15 18 218 (SW) 1243 - 11:57Z 29 16 21 218 (SW) 1201 - 12:29Z 30 17 21 213 (SSW) 1194 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 06:09Z doors opened, fans on. 06:50Z The telescope opened, spectro dewars refilled. 12:45Z The telescope closed, dewars refilled, imager dewar replaced. ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v4_19_0 Watcher: v2_31_0 MCP: v6_1_3 TPM: tpm_v3_3_0 AstroDa: v15_11 TCC: TCC 2.7.2.1 August 6 2004 sdssProcedures: v2_12 SoS: hoggPT: plate-mapper: ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A -5.8500 -5.8440 Axial B -5.6690 -5.6770 Axial C 0.9390 0.9420 Trans D -10.0050 -9.9940 Lateral E 10.3632 10.3759 Lateral F 11.9380 11.9380 GALILS Commanded: 4700. -2450. 3000. -7800. 3300. 3000.
