APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday March 26, 2006 (MJD 53821) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: John Barentine Night: Viktor Malanushenko Jurek Krzesinksi Cheerful Tech Support: Craig Loomis ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Clouds all the night, clearing enough to get some signal on one plate. No problems to report. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon --------- Found two of landru's screens in video card distress this afternoon when I began checkout; something was wrong with the display, causing windows on those monitors to be unreadable. Craig worked some magic and got the displays working correctly again. No other problems during checkout. Spectro focus information is in the Problems section. Night ----- Afternoon checkout was done on plate 2432 then we've done two sets of Hartman exposures at evening on plate 2432 mechPistoning collimator between them. We found out that PlateID for one set was 2432 and for the second one was ZERO (0). There is nothing we can think of what we've changed between these two exposures what would have affected PlateID #, yet it did happen. The plateid was manualy changed and exposure rereduced. Unfortunately next Hartman exposures got plateid ZERO as well. 05:45Z cart 4 plt 2229 mounted. Fk5 used to find guide stars. Happy with semi steady cloud conditions at the time, we estimated that the last exposure will give us enough s/n, but we were fooled by the weather. The cartridge was replaced and the last exposure did not make it. We were almost there yet plate not done. 08:05Z cart 7 plt 2240 mounted. Fk5 used to find guide stars. Clouds. No good exposure on this plate. 11:12Z endNight finished ok. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6077 22:44Z 23:01Z 100 O -125.54 -121.22 40 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): y QA Procedures Done (y/n):y UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 38294, plate -9999 ------- 22:41 38294 0.0 bias 22:49 38295 0.0 bias ----- sequence 38296, plate 2432 ------- 22:58 38296 10.0 flat 23:00 38297 2.0 arc 23:03 38298 2.1 arc 23:06 38299 2.1 arc 23:19 38300 2.1 arc 23:21 38301 2.1 arc 23:32 38302 10.0 flat 23:34 38303 2.0 arc ----- sequence 38305, plate 2432 ------- 00:59 38305 2.1 arc 01:01 38306 2.1 arc 01:12 38307 2.1 arc 01:14 38308 2.1 arc ----- sequence 38305, plate 0 ------- 01:29 38309 2.1 arc 01:32 38310 2.1 arc 02:53 38311 2.1 arc 02:56 38312 2.1 arc ----- sequence 38313, plate 2229 ------- 06:19 38313 10.0 flat 06:21 38314 2.0 arc 06:49 38315 1200.1 target 07:12 38316 1200.1 target 07:35 38317 1200.1 target 07:53 38318 900.1 target ----- sequence 38319, plate 2240 ------- 08:10 38319 10.0 flat 08:12 38320 2.0 arc 08:37 38321 1316.6 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 06:11Z 2229 64.23 -0.0016 78.87 0.0054 238.45 0.0310 1.000050 08:07Z 2240 -49.80 -0.0049 81.79 0.0018 133.61 0.0263 1.000050 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 06:11Z 2229 1.00005 -494 791 80 64 78.8 5.9 7 267 gdr 1.2 08:07Z 2240 1.00005 -494 748 40 -50 81.8 4.4 6 4 1.2 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 22:22Z 49 8 14 275 (W) 1548 - 22:53Z 50 11 13 255 (WSW) 1447 - 23:24Z 49 8 15 281 (W) 1563 - 23:54Z 48 7 10 257 (WSW) 1510 - 01:02Z 45 7 11 259 (W) 1434 - 01:35Z 44 8 14 235 (SW) 1481 - 02:07Z 43 11 17 237 (WSW) 1824 - 02:39Z 43 11 17 220 (SW) 1576 - 03:11Z 42 14 10 232 (SW) 1373 - 03:43Z 41 14 10 228 (SW) 1487 - 04:15Z 42 14 10 271 (W) 1362 - 04:45Z 42 14 7 262 (W) 1346 - 05:16Z 43 13 8 259 (W) 1552 - 05:47Z 42 13 10 269 (W) 1355 - 06:20Z 42 12 3 265 (W) 1459 - 06:51Z 42 12 0 210 (SSW) 1420 - 07:24Z 42 11 1 183 (S) 1459 - 07:55Z 41 10 6 356 (NNW) 1531 - 08:28Z 43 7 0 225 (SW) 1732 - 09:01Z 43 7 3 330 (NNW) 1783 - 09:33Z 43 7 2 353 (NNW) 1755 - 10:03Z 41 9 8 0 (N) 1858 - 10:36Z 41 10 2 357 (NNW) 1718 - 11:08Z 43 7 5 275 (W) 1791 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 03:15Z fans on. 11:20Z Telescope closed. ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v4_19_0 Watcher: v2_31_0 MCP: v6_1_3 TPM: tpm_v3_3_0 AstroDa: v15_11 TCC: TCC 2.7.2.1 August 6 2004 sdssProcedures: SoS: v5_1_0 hoggPT: v1_6_9 plate-mapper: v4_3_1 ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A -5.8510 -5.8440 Axial B -5.6660 -5.6770 Axial C 0.9380 0.9420 Trans D -10.0000 -9.9940 Lateral E 10.3886 10.3759 Lateral F 11.9507 11.9380 GALILS Commanded: 4700. -2450. 3000. -7800. 3300. 3000.
