APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Monday October 1, 2007 (MJD 54375) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Audrey Simmons (swing) Elena Malanushenko Steph Snedden ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Shakedown & Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Clouds. High humidity. Rain. Yuck. Some standard shakedown tasks were completed (see the main log body). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Checkout went smoothly. Note that when I took a postCal and ran goSpecFoc, there were lights on in the enclosure, which made SOS show lots of red/yellow values. Please ignore these. The engineering team will take fiducial tables tomorrow, so we will hopefully obtain a good pointing model tomorrow night. Home/relax mirrors will also be done tomorrow. Shakedown tasks completed so far: Checked PT hardware and changed PT flat field lamp. Spectro monthly checkout was done yesterday - adjusting spectro fibers and wavelengths. Imager bias/flats were completed on 9/22/07. Cleaned and ran endNight for old MJD's in the /data/spectro directory. Did not ventilate at sunset due to heavy clouds and high humidity. Night: ------ Clouds, high humidity at sunset. 03:16Z We don't think we will be opening any time soon, so we set up for monthly spectro biases and darks. Yes, Kaike, this time we removed the foam from the cartridge after doing the darks. The afternoon focus arcs should look normal this time ;-) 10:29Z - endNight finished, and so did we. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 46457, plate -9999 ------- 00:35 46457 0.0 bias ----- sequence 46458, plate 2805 ------- 03:13 46458 0.0 bias Spectro monthly checkout 03:15 46459 0.0 bias ' 03:17 46460 0.0 bias ' 03:19 46461 0.0 bias ' 03:22 46462 0.0 bias ' 03:24 46463 0.0 bias ' 03:26 46464 0.0 bias ' 03:28 46465 0.0 bias ' 03:31 46466 0.0 bias ' 03:33 46467 0.0 bias ' 03:35 46468 0.0 bias ' 03:37 46469 0.0 bias ' 03:40 46470 0.0 bias ' 03:42 46471 0.0 bias ' 03:44 46472 0.0 bias ' 03:47 46473 0.0 bias ' 03:49 46474 0.0 bias ' 03:51 46475 0.0 bias ' 03:53 46476 0.0 bias ' 03:56 46477 0.0 bias ' 03:58 46478 0.0 bias ' 04:00 46479 0.0 bias ' 04:02 46480 0.0 bias ' 04:05 46481 0.0 bias ' 04:07 46482 0.0 bias ' 05:03 46483 0.0 dark ' 05:20 46484 0.0 dark ' 05:38 46485 0.0 dark ' ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 00:16Z 54 51 15 158 (SSE) 757 - cloudy 00:48Z 54 49 19 179 (S) 617 - ' 01:32Z 53 50 11 174 (S) 764 - ' 02:04Z 54 50 20 183 (S) 651 - ' 02:36Z 52 51 18 193 (SSW) 1018 - ' 03:08Z 52 52 14 200 (SSW) 3888 - ' 03:41Z 52 52 21 203 (SSW) 1001 - ' 04:11Z 52 52 16 210 (SSW) 2233 - ' 04:44Z 53 53 16 223 (SW) 1221 - ' 05:17Z 52 53 16 209 (SSW) 11940 - ' 05:49Z 52 53 15 218 (SW) 10029 - ' 06:21Z 52 53 18 216 (SW) 5721 - ' 06:55Z 52 53 15 216 (SW) 685 - ' 07:26Z 52 53 15 239 (WSW) 1592 - ' 07:59Z 52 53 14 248 (WSW) 781 - ' 08:30Z 52 53 13 265 (W) 4433 - ' 09:02Z 51 53 12 268 (W) 1357 - ' 09:34Z 51 52 11 269 (W) 8049 - ' 10:04Z 51 52 17 276 (W) 24985 - ' 10:35Z 50 51 15 274 (W) 12444 - ' ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Never opened, never ventilated.
