APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Tuesday October 23, 2007 (MJD 54397) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Audrey Simmons (swing) Dan Oravetz (swing) Dmitry Bizyaev Viktor Malanushenko ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- SEGUE Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- SEGUE bright plates were observed. Six cartridges have been done, probably some of them got enough signal, but since this night was under full Moon, Brian Yanny will decide if they can be declared as done. Formally, the plate base was updated with b1,b2 s/n's. One cartridge (#1) needs to be checked thoroughly by the plug team (see problems for details). We didn't select plates to plug yet, waiting for result from Brian, and remembering that tomorrow is an engineering night. We fight hard against the plenty of food in kitchen, but didn't do it all, day time personal should help with it. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Spectro focus set for 5C. 23:28Z - Began ventilation. When the cartridge was rised on the lift, something felt out. The lift or cartridge didn't hit anything. The telescope was double checked to be exactly at 121,90,0. Cartridge returned back to the Lindy cart, the felt part turned to be a side pannel (now, in the bay, it faces out). The pannel returned back, but the upper locker looks loose, we tried to fixate it there few times, but any way it's not completely firmly attached. FK5 star was found well, but no one guide star seen in the field. We tried to detach it and attach back. Result is the same, no stars. We switched to another cartridge. Please check the cartridge 1!
