Before rebooting the crate, I checked for any loose connections, bad fans, etc. I found one ribbon cable connector at the back that was not firmly seated. Once it was pushed in place, I rebooted the crate. I don't know yet if that will fix the problem. The spectrograph focus is set for a temperature of around 0 to -1C based on cartridge 4.
