This is a repeat occurrence of the same delay experienced last night when the initial gotoField was issued. We experienced another sort of delay (about two minutes) during the exposures on cartridge 4, where the guider images didn't update in SAOImage and the guider camera exposure counter in TCCMon didn't update either. See log. Acquired signal on cartridge 9, 2865. r1 now has a total (S/N)^2 = 40.5. Acquired signal on cartridge 7, 2912. We took 1X25-minute and 3X30-minute exposures for this seguefaint180 plate. For each exposure, b1 had (S/N)^2 values ~15, b2 and r2 had (S/N)^2 values ~25 or more, and r1 had (S/N)^2 values only ~2. Finished cartridge 4, 2882. Finished cartridge 8, 2858 (segue bright) based on previous signal acquired in b2 plus an additional exposure tonight resulting in b2 (S/N)^2 = 33.7. Finished cartridge 5, 2886. Finished cartridge 3, 2659. Finished cartridge 6, 2447. As an addendum to Shannon's recent entries regarding the shutter pressure being below spec, last night and tonight when I checked the shutter pressure gauge, it was ~82-84 psi, right about at spec. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- All systems checked and working. Had to reboot the astro and photo crates because ad2-ad4 and id1-id6 weren't responding. Imager shutter pressure 78 psi (spec 80 psi). Spectro focus set for -0.5 to -1.0 00:15Z - Began ventilation. Doors and louvers opened, fans and blowers on. Night: ------ 00:37Z - Enclosure off. 00:41Z - Sunset. Cartridge 9, 2865, seguefaint170 ******************************** 01:03Z - On Dmitry's initial gotoField, the telescope didn't actually begin slewing to the field until after about a five minute delay. After about a minute or so, the SOP window finally began replying that it thought the slew had started when in fact the telescope was not moving. After another few minutes the telescope actually began to slew. A TCC connection had been established prior to issuing the gotoField command. We experienced a similar problem yesterday evening on the initial gotoField slew where the slew was delayed and a TCC connection had already been established. The TCC didn't time out yesterday (nor today), there was just a waiting period before the telescope began to move. After it stopped slewing and began tracking, we did not see guide stars. We re-issued the loadCartridge and gotoField commands and still did not find guide stars, but the subsequent fk5 was found in fiber 10. We centered the fk5 star and went back to the field only to find two guide stars, at the edges of fibers 10 and 11. Starting the guider centered these stars and brought all of the guide stars into the centers of their respective guide fibers. Usually a centered fk5 star will produce more than just two guide stars on the return-to-field gcam exposure, so it seems as though there is an offset between the guide stars and the centered fk5 in fiber 10 for this plate. Is this perhaps because this plate formally expired just over two weeks ago? 01:34Z - Pre-Calibs. 01:43Z - 1800-second exposure. Starting altitude ~41 degrees and the scale changes weren't that bad. The largest percent scale change was 0.009 when the guider was first started and looped a few times. 02:16Z - 1800-second exposure. 02:49Z - Post-Calibs. Seeing: 1.8" - 2.3" fwhm. Cartridge 7, 2912, seguefaint180 ******************************** 02:59Z - gotoField. No guide stars were found on the initial 20-second gcam exposure. We went to an fk5 in fiber 10 and centered is as best as we could. Returning to the field we found guide stars. The guider data window recongized all 11 guide stars this time with a 30-second gcam exposure (the seeing was about 1.5" fwhm better than last night when we tried this plate). The efficiency meter is not correct for this plate, but we are still able to gauge relative flux changes. 03:16Z - Pre-Calibs. 03:26Z - 1500-second exposure. Used 30-second guider exposures and had all 11 guide stars. 03:54Z - 1500-second exposure. Increased to 1800-second exposure. 04:27Z - 1800-second exposure. 05:00Z - Mid-Calibs. 05:12Z - 1800-second exposure. 05:44Z - 1800-second exposure. Aborted after about a minute so that we could switch to cartridge 4. 05:48Z - Post-Calibs. Seeing: 1.5" - 2.1" fwhm. SOS warned of whopping fibers. Cartridge 4, 2882, chunk175 *************************** 05:59Z - gotoField. Used an fk5 to acquire the field. 06:06Z - Pre-Calibs. 06:14Z - 1200-second exposure. 06:36Z - 1200-second exposure. 06:43Z - We noticed the guider frames weren't updating and TCCMon showed the guider camera exposure timer stuck at 10/10 for about two minutes and then all of a sudden, things started working and updating properly again. This is similar to the delay we experienced at the beginning of the night. 06:59Z - 1200-second exposure. Seeing: 1.6" - 1.8" fwhm. FINISHED this plate. We are declaring this plate DONE based on previous signal acquired in b2 with the b2 (S/N)^2 = 33.7 to free it up for higher priority plates.
