Night: ------ 00:32Z enclosure off. We set up DIMM, and it shows that seeing is 1.6-2". In addition, there are some clouds at the horizon, probably approaching, so we decided to mount a cartridge rather than the imager. -- cart 6 plate 3198 is mounted GSOGTF first guider frame is gimg1335.fits Focus is found somewhere around 600 01:27Z precal in-spec - all black Seeing is around 3-3.5", and efficiency ios close to zero. Since it makes no sense to get an exposure, we're waiting for the seeing improvement. This cart is expired soon, so we switch to another one with higher altitude. -- 02:04Z cart 7 plate 3210 is mounted no g.s., fk5 used, first guider frame is gimg1453.fits 02:31Z precal 02:37Z we got errors "Micro" on sp2, "serial" is not responding. sp2 is not responding to pings. We see that all lights are red on sp2 crate. 02:41Z spectro crates reseted, all 2. sp1 got up. Sp2 not. On telescope, we found 1 red LED: +5 V CCD, sp2. Spectrograph's 2 power supply block is power cycled. 02:57Z go back to the field. Error again on sp2: exec micro (UNACKNOWLEDGED: 2009-01-28 02:58:36Z) Also Volts: ln2temp. We checked ln2 temperature, it is ok. Watcher servers reseted. 03:06Z gotofield again (cart. 7 plate 3210). Guide stars are lost: guider frame gimg1499.fits fk5 used ; offset is about dA ~ -15". Efficiency is below 30%, so I don't put the "Hardware problems" flag on because we cannot observe efficiently any way. 03:28Z precal error messages "goStare unsuccessful" are coming again. exec micro (UNACKNOWLEDGED : 2009-01-28 03:30:12Z) sp2 is getting failed again. Folllowing recommendation by Jon Brinkmann, we issued "iack". Re-taking bias... new bias looks good (from apo_plotbias). It doesn't hurt observations any way because of 3.5" seeing. 03:47Z guider failed a couple of times (works from tcc, not from sop). It complains about "not enough priveleges..." Suddenly it starts working again. sp1> mechPiston -3000 same for sp2, since temperature is going down (-8.2C ambient now) 03:56Z precal, trying again 04:02Z science 1800 (although it is a desperate attempt because of 3" seeing) Weak exposure, as expected. 04:36Z cart 5 plate 3230 is mounted. no g.s., guider frame gimg0174.fits fk5 used efficiency is ~ 20% (bad seeing, some clouds). 04:57Z precal 05:13Z science 1800 (efficiency goes up a little, like 45%), useful exposure 05:46Z science 1800 not bad exposure, seeing is getting better 06:18Z science 1800 some seeing flare at the end; good exposure any way 06:52Z midcal many yellow numbers because of T drop. The best focus jumped really very much, almost 600 units (from +250 to -350). Note that the scale jumped also at the same moment: was : 0.000, became : 0.020 !
