APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday July 4, 2009 (MJD 55017) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Viktor Malanushenko Elena Malanushenko Jon Brinkman (by call). ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! Marvels! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- The most of night was lost due to lightening on site, clouds and high humidity. We opened for one last exposure but did not get it as the guider was stopped to update and we lost the stars. There was a network problem in plugging lab with fire alarm on, disconnected telephone line, and not available web page of plates. Jon suggested to reconnect all network cables to Marvels hub and it helped. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Telescope is checked and it works properly. 01:00Z ThAr "ON" 01:20Z started ventilation. Plate database page is not availble. Spectro collimation was not performed as spectro is disconnected already for summer reconstruction. To use guider, we need to make spectro directory manually otherwise the guider does not work. 02:20Z - Fans, louvers and doors are OFF. Night: ----- It was clouds, nearby lightening and radar return. We stopped ventilation and wait for possible weather improvement. Cart 9 is mounted. The fire alarm system in cartridge bay is alerting with sound and flashing light. Visual inspections did not show any problem there. The message is "trouble in system telco line 1". Called to Mark, he thought that it was a network problem and recommended to ignore it now. We noted also that telephone there did not work and no access to plug-map database. Jon Brinkman helped us to clarify that the problem is with hub in the pluggers room. We reconnected cables to Marvels hub and it helped with connection and alarm is stopped. 04:00Z Clouds and humidity are better and we started ventilation. The radar return is still around. 08:50Z ventilation 09:40Z enclosure is off. 09:59Z - calibration Cart5 plate 3076B is mounted. FSonGTF. 10:10Z We started exposure, but in 500 sec after that guider stopped to update, Viktor's sop session and all other X sessions was frozen. I tried to find guider stars and to start guider from my session but it did not work also. PMT fall down and field moved away. We aborted this exposure. As it was too later to start another exposure so we tried to find stars and to start guider again just to be sure that everything was working. 10:50Z enclosure is on. 11:00Z endNight is finished. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10:18Z 5 3076 97.32 -0.0023 62.22 0.0026 259.26 0.0258 1.000400 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10:18Z 5 3076 1.00040 -3949 -2223 -100 97 62.2 13.8 7 1 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 00:43Z 66 54 4 258 (WSW) 508 - 01:51Z 61 52 2 260 (W) 453 - 02:21Z 59 52 1 307 (NW) 483 - 02:54Z 59 51 0 301 (WNW) 448 - 03:24Z 59 51 1 252 (WSW) 464 - 03:58Z 59 49 0 260 (W) 436 - 04:30Z 58 51 8 60 (ENE) 386 - 05:01Z 57 50 9 56 (NE) 631 - 05:34Z 56 49 14 32 (NNE) 477 - 06:05Z 55 49 11 81 (E) 553 - 06:35Z 54 51 11 80 (E) 948 - 07:07Z 57 44 13 33 (NNE) 342 - 07:38Z 54 49 5 4 (N) 628 - 08:08Z 56 47 8 12 (NNE) 444 - 08:41Z 58 45 11 12 (NNE) 452 - 09:13Z 57 45 10 5 (N) 414 - 09:45Z 57 46 5 6 (N) 351 - 10:18Z 56 48 8 12 (NNE) 501 - 10:48Z 57 46 15 19 (NNE) 460 - 11:22Z 57 47 12 10 (N) 414 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 08:50Z - ventilation 09:40Z - enclosure is off 10:50Z - enclosure is on.
