APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday March 14, 2010 (MJD 55270) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Howard Brewington Dan Oravetz ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We fought nearby radar/clouds and high humidity tonight. We completed MARVELS cals, but no science data was taken due to the weather. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- 23:15Z Started the checkout 23:20Z Restarted the Watcher servers 23:33Z Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda3 142G 128G 6.7G 96% / /dev/sda1 99M 30M 64M 33% /boot /dev/sdb1 917G 855G 16G 99% /data hub25mp:/home 92G 76G 17G 83% /home_hub25m sdssfiles1p:/data1/data 1.8T 103G 1.7T 6% /files 23:38Z Verified that the STUI actors were happy; also checked the status of the hub25m and perms. Issued a 'gcamera simulate off' command. alerts ping, boss ping, gcamera ping, guider ping, mcp ping, msg ping, platedb ping, sop ping, hub status, perms status 00:03Z Spectro focus was checked and slightly adjusted. The collimate results are posted in the Prob Section. 00:22Z - Checked out the upper and lower enclosures and the telescope. Checked fiducials and mirror numbers. Started ventilation. Night: ------ 01:05Z - We mounted cart. 10 and opened both enclosure doors all the way in preparation of opening, but we did see clouds and radar nearby and decided to monitor the weather more before opening. 01:57Z - Hartmanns. We wanted to be ready to go in case conditions improved enough where we could get an exposure or two in. The radar and the satellite still showed that clouds were nearby and that we were in a sucker hole still. We had clouds pass through over head, some of which were orographic, but the real threat was the radar to the N and E. We were essentially in a sucker hole the entire time. There were low clouds to the E which looked like fog on the satellite and that moisture eventually came over the mountains and the humidity spiked. 04:58Z - Cleaned gang connector and port in preparation for MARVELS cals. 05:59Z - Started MARVELS cals. The counts in the images looked good having cleaned the gang connector and the port. 06:10Z - Stopped ventilation and closed for high humidity. The humidity was well above closure limits once it spiked at ~06:10Z. 11:29Z - endNight finished. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 23:19Z 38 18 20 261 (W) 564 - 23:49Z 40 18 19 259 (W) 624 - 00:19Z 38 13 20 261 (W) 673 - 00:45Z 37 14 20 257 (WSW) 719 - 01:15Z 34 13 18 263 (W) 771 - 01:49Z 33 13 14 265 (W) 810 - 02:23Z 34 12 12 277 (W) 884 - 02:56Z 33 14 7 260 (W) 1056 - 03:30Z 32 14 4 273 (W) 1084 - 04:01Z 31 15 4 257 (WSW) 1223 - 04:31Z 31 14 3 254 (WSW) 1224 - 05:02Z 29 17 4 100 (E) 1056 - 05:32Z 31 17 5 199 (SSW) 1032 - 06:03Z 28 16 10 79 (E) 952 - 06:33Z 26 23 19 75 (ENE) 1106 - 07:03Z 25 23 20 79 (E) 960 - 07:38Z 25 23 15 84 (E) 881 - 08:08Z 24 23 19 64 (ENE) 779 - 08:42Z 24 23 24 73 (ENE) 540 - 09:15Z 23 23 23 75 (ENE) 476 - 09:46Z 23 22 22 78 (ENE) 336 - 10:20Z 22 21 14 66 (ENE) 251 - 10:53Z 22 21 26 72 (ENE) 255 - 11:27Z 22 21 24 85 (E) 292 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 00:22Z Doors and louvers opened, fans on. 06:10Z Stopped ventilation and closed.
