APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Monday October 11, 2010 (MJD 55481) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Howard Brewington Kaike Pan Craig Loomis (online). Klye Dawson (UT for platedb app) Adrian Price-Whelan (NYU, platedb app) Stephen Bailey (UT, platedb app). ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- BOSS Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- It was a gonnd night, photometric sky, and good seeing. We observed 7 BOSS plates, and finished 6 of them. Cart 10, plate 4094. Done. Cart 11, plate 4199. DONE. cart 13, plate 4224. DONE. cart 14, plate 4227. DONE. cart 15, plate 4258. DONE cart 16, plate 4262. cart 17, plate 3669. DONE gcamera disconnected itself. Restarting gcamera and guider from stagemanger did not fix the problem. Craig fixed the problem. 20 min lost to the problem. One Ne lamp failed to turn on during "gotoField" process on cartridge 13. In MCP system status cartoon, it is the most left one. But all 4 Ne lamp were turned on when we try to identify the failure one by turning lamps on at the telescope. We can not identify it so did not change. 15 minutes was lost to the problem. Day crew, if you know which one failed according to the system status cartoon, could you please change it t prevent any possible problem during nights? Thanks. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- 22:30Z Started the checkout 22:35Z Recorded the software versions. 22:40Z Checked rain sensor status 22:45Z Recorded and confirmedd the mirror numbers 22:56Z [observer@hub25m-p ~]$ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 95G 24G 66G 27% / /dev/sda4 793G 100G 653G 14% /home /dev/sda1 99M 19M 75M 20% /boot tmpfs 5.9G 0 5.9G 0% /dev/shm /dev/drbd1 13T 2.4T 11T 19% /data [observer@hub25m-p ~]$ [hjbrew@sdsshost2 hjbrew]$ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda3 142G 132G 2.9G 98% / /dev/sda1 99M 30M 64M 33% /boot /dev/sdb1 917G 709G 162G 82% /data hub25m-p:/home - - - - /home_hub25m sdssfiles1-p:/data1/data 1.8T 164G 1.7T 9% /files 22:58Z Did 'platedb showActive' All BOSS carts are ready 23:00Z Tested actors 23:00Z Guider/gcamera tests: a) gcamera status (simulate=off; temp=-40) b) gcamera dark time=20 c) gcamera flat ( gcamera flat time=0.5 cartridge=10 ) 23:02Z Tested calib lamps 23:16Z Spectro tests and focus a) guider loadCartridge b) boss exposure bias itime=0 c) sop hartmann d) sop doCalibs (with scope at zenith) 23:20Z Checked carts and bay 23:25Z Opened doors/louvers; turned on fans. 03:40Z mounted cartridge 10, take bias, dark, arc, flat at zenith. 00:42Z Enclosure off Night: ------ 01:02Z cart 10, plate 4094. 01:42Z started sciences.
