APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday October 21, 2010 (MJD 55491) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Dan Oravetz Elena Malanushenko Stephanie Snedden Team to work with Laser test: Claire Cramer, NIST Keith Lyhhe, NIST Adam Bolton, University of Utah Joel Brownstein, University of Utah Stephen Bailey, Lawrence Bertkley Lab ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! 55491.0 0.94 01:46 11:50 20:44 06:50 Engineering night ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- It was the first snow tonght. Cloudy and hight humidity. Laser test inside enclosure has been completed successfully, and the next step was to go on sky. We could not do this because of hight humidity, clouds and nearby radar return. Some plates (ct 11 pl4246, ct 16 pla 4097) did not have plug map files so they could not be loaded. We used cart 11 plate 4246 for Laser test but recorded cart 9 (previously loaded cartridge). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon ---------- Checked actors, they work properly. No afternoon calibration or collimation as the telescope is ready for test. Boss cameras were ok with normal temperature. But we was getting alert: Warn boss.SP1LN2Empty Reported by camCheck We forced fill, applied startfillseq, and it did not help. Stephanie said this error exits for several nioghts already. Night ------ The weather is not looks good now. And we need to start with some tests inside enclosure. This night is tunable laser calibration test. Cart 11 is mounted, but as it does not have plugging map file, so we cannot load cart 11, and in our records show cart 9. Stephnaie put socks on unplugged fibers to elliminate scattered light. Test esposure: boss exposure arc itime=20 window=2450,3000 02:14:38 FLUSHING, 13.00, file=120738 Laser ff=0216 Three flats: (1) manually turn on the FF lamps (2) boss exposure flat itime=30 flaser=120739,40,41 Three arcs: (1) manually turn on the NE lamps through MCP (2) boss exposure arc itime=4 Files laser: flaser=120742,43,44 The next laser information will be recorded on file flaser=0246 for the next 100 STUI boss expousres. Each three exposures have the same wavelength. We used command: "boss exposure arc itime=23 window=2400,3000" ff=45-59 - are ok ff=60 exposure is stuck at Reading 0.0s Applied "boss clearExposure" this exposure has only sp2 data, and do not have sp1. the next bias ff=61 has sp2 also. 03:26:09 APO.Craig: There was a DAQ failure at 03:13 ish We made two biases ff=65-66 and they are ok. There were more laser test exposure starting from 67. flaser=120767-120897 Laser sequence was completed. PostCalibration: 06:25 3 flats, ff=120898,899,900 06:32 3 arcs with Ne lamp only, ff=901,902,903 This Laser test inside enclosure has been completed successfully, and the next step was to go on sky. We could not do this because of hight humidity, clouds and nearby radar return. Humidiy is still very high even it became clear. 10:40Z endNight is completed. Telescope is powered off. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame
