Large-scale forcing data for AWARE experiment

The objective of the AWARE experiment is to 1) diagnose the surface energy balance in West Antarctica as related to both summer season climatology and potential surface melting and 2) improve global climate model performance over Antarctica, such that future cryospheric projections can be more reliable.

The constrained variational objective analysis approach described in Zhang and Lin (1997) and Zhang et al. (2001) was used to derive the large-scale single-column/cloud resolving model forcing and evaluation data set for the ARM West Antarctic Radiation Experiment (AWARE) McMurdo Station.
